Summer Fun Blog Hop – June 2022

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s Summer Fun Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller, and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner. Summer fun is my jam!! While I love going to the beach and spending time either by myself or with friends and family, I love making beach themed cards! So, I wanted to make one last card featuring the Gentle Waves Background Stamp before it retires, add some tropical elements with the Paradise Palms Bundle, and this card wouldn’t be complete without some sea glass and a seashell!

The base layer for the card front is this design from the 2022-2024 In Color 6” x 6” DSP measuring 4” x 5 ¼”, which I first cut the DSP at 2” along one side, placed that 2” x 6” piece aside, and cut ¾” off the 6” side of the 4” x 6” piece, using the ¾” x 4” piece for the inside of the card:

For the rest of the card front, you will need:

1. Use the second and fourth largest Deckled Rectangle Dies to die-cut from Basic White cardstock to create a “frame”.

2. Cut a 3 ¼” x 4 ½” piece of Basic White cardstock, use a Blending Brush with Balmy Blue ink to color the entire piece of cardstock and use your Stamparatus to stamp the Gentle Waves stamp in Starry Sky ink about halfway down.

3. On Basic White cardstock, stamp both frond stamps in Old Olive ink, both tree trunk stamps in Crumb Cake ink, the coconuts stamp two times in Soft Suede ink, and the sun in Mango Melody ink. These are all die-cut out with the coordinating dies.

4. Cut a small piece of the matte finish Rose Gold Specialty Paper, use the large Seaside Seashells die to die-cut out the outline of the seashell (use snips to trim off the excess around the seashell), and place the die-cut in the Seashells 3D EF to emboss. I then used the Saddle Brown Stazon ink pad to lightly ink the embossed paper on the raised groves.

5. You will need two each of the blue-green and olive and one of the white Faux Sea Glass Shapes, not pictured.

I used liquid glue to adhere the 3 ¼” x 4 ½” piece of cardstock to the back of the deckled “frame”, a dimensional to adhere the die-cut sun, liquid glue to adhere the palm trees and embossed seashell, and placed the Faux Sea Glass Shapes as shown. This piece is adhered to the DSP base layer, which is then adhered to a Starry Sky cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Starry Sky ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:

For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I stamped the sun, the palm tree, and coconuts in the same inks as the card front:

I just love how Starry Sky really makes this card pop! Now if you look closely, there are some splatter spots, which I totally did on accident when I was using a baby wipe to clean the Gentle Waves stamp! Apparently, I was too close, but rather than starting all over again, I just went ahead with the card! So, if you are wondering why I didn’t address this in the tutorial, it was a “happy accident”!!
