Getting Creative with Your Happy Stamper Lady

Playing With Color

Hello My Friends, I am very excited and honestly a bit nervous to begin this new blog journey. I definitely feel technology challenged and have allowed that to keep me from moving forward…NO MORE! I am conquering my fear and pushing myself out of my comfort zone to try something new. I am honored that you are going to go on this new Adventure with me๐Ÿ’œ

The best way I know how to conquer my fear is to combine the new with with something I love. I love to create cards. It is truly my happy place and always makes me feel more connected to my Beautiful Momma. She was my creative buddy and I miss her everyday, so this is the best way I know to continue to keep her legacy alive. Make cards and share them with the world๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Me and My Beautiful Momma

This week we were given a color challenge to use… Sweet Sorbet, Mango Melody, Tahitian Tide and Pacific Point. We could create any type of card and use any stamps as long as we used those specific colors. Challenge Accepted! I want to give a shout out to Linda Moore and all My New Stampin Blog Friends ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

I knew I had to start my blog off with a bang and that meant using stamps that make my heart happy. The New Sale-A-Bration set Hippest Hippos paired with Ranunculus Romance flowers gives the whole card and air of beauty and whimsy๐Ÿ’œ

I used the tea boutique cards and envelopes set as my card base and then created a fun book fold card to show off all three of these adorable Hippos. I love those polka dots and the New In Color DSP is a Fabulous compliment to these cards. Those Glitter glasses make me giggle every time I look at this card๐Ÿ’œ

I love seeing these adorable Hippos surrounded by flowers. And all the accents from the dies cut out in Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper brings the Glitter I love. Her little winky face makes me smile. I hope it is making you Smile too๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Don’t you Absolutely Adore that Umbrella. I am feeling all Mary Poppins and filled with happiness from these Hippos. I hope you are adoring them as well. Doing a color challenge is definitely out of my comfort zone. I can be a bit rebellious and I don’t want someone to tell me what to do….so obviously I need to work on that and this card really helped me to do that๐Ÿ’œ

Do you ever struggle to get out of your comfort zone? Do you have places of fear that seem to hold you back? I hope you will feel free to share them with me and we can encourage each other to grow and find new places of bravery in our lives. I also hope this card makes you smile and inspires you to go and create something of your own๐Ÿ’œ

I want to Give you the Card Measurements and show you step by step pics of how to make this Book Fold Card. You will Notice that the colors are different in these pics because I gave myself another color challenge. I like to take the same stamp sets and see how they look with different colors and paper๐Ÿ’œ

I love creating Book Fold Cards because I love books and I think this type of card does a great job of telling a story. This story takes place in Paris and shows what a great adventure these 3 Hippo Friends enjoyed. I think we need to name each of these Hippo Friends, what do you think. Who wants to help me give these cutie names๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

  • A Book Fold Card is fun and easy once you get the measurements down. These pictures give you all the measurements step by step.
  • Card Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Score at 4 1/4″ then cut the Card Front at 2 1/8″
  • Inside Book Card 8″ x 5″ Score at 4″ Glue back of this card to the inside of the Card Base
  • Front Piece for the first Hippo is 2 1/2″ x 3″ backed by 2 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
  • Then have fun Decorating

I used the FREE Sale-A-Bration Cards and Envelopes to create this second Card. The Color Combo I used was Blackberry Bliss, Soft Seafoam and Pool Party. I used Blackberry Bliss as my cardstock background color and the New Splendid Day DSP from the Mini Catalog. I also stamped all the Hippos in Memento Black Ink and outlined them with My Stampin Write Black Marker๐Ÿ’œ

So here is My New Card with the Different Color Combination. It is so fun to play with different colors and papers to create new looks for the same card fold. I love to show how versatile our stamps can be with just a few changes๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

So which Color Combo is Your Favorite? I honestly had so much fun creating both and seeing how different our Hippos can look just by changing paper and colors. Let’s be honest…These Hippos are Lovely no matter what colors you use๐Ÿ’œ

Thank you for joining me on this New Blog Adventure. Watch for My upcoming Video on YouTube where I will show you how to create these Adorable Hippo cards live. Until I see you next week I bid you Adieu My Friends๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

  1. Those hippos and tutus and umbrellas! OMG! The color challenge was great, reminded me of summer at the beach. As usual, my extremely talented friend, your cards are gorgeous!

  2. Love what you have done with the colours – I’m waiting on my hippos to arrive…. I somehow didn’t see the dies, so I will “need” to do another order ๐Ÿ™‚
