Using a dice challenge in card making is a great way to give you focus when you are designing a project. I have created two cards for this month’s challenge blog hop from the Crafty Collaborations Community.

The challenge gave us these elements to use from a roll of the dice:

  • Pearl
  • Sponging
  • Regals
  • Thank You
  • Standard Horizontal

Using A Dice Challenge in Card Making

Two thank you cards, inspired by a dice challenge and using a Thanks a Bunch stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Having looked at these elements, I decided to use the Thanks a Bunch stamp set to create some cards. This photopolymer stamp set is one of the options for Sale-a-Bration if you place a qualifying order. I can’t help but smile when I look at it and I think it makes a lovely alternative to flowers and trees – although I have seen some great tree cards created with upside down carrots.

All Over Stamping

A Thank You card with a front panel featuring carrots from the Thanks a Bunch stamp set from Stampin' Up!

This first card uses three Regal Colours, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Crushed Curry. The back panel features small bunches of carrots stamped all over. These small carrots were also added onto a panel of basic White for the card insert.

The front panel features 3 large carrots on a Crushed Curry blended background. I then used a large blending brush to add the Crushed Curry “glow” to the centre of the Basic White card. The carrot images are created with 2 step stamping – the solid back image and also a detail stamp to create shading down the right hand side. I stamped the central carrot directly onto the Basic White card, but the carrots either side were fussy cut and raised up with dimensionals.

The sentiment was split, with the “Thanks” raised up on dimensionals and the “a bunch” stamped directly onto the white mat, both in Old Olive.

Pearls were a requirement of the challenge and this project features some Heart Pearls coloured with an Old Olive Stampin’ Blend. To finish, a Linen Thread bow was also added.

Carrots f All Colours

Multi coloured carrots using Regal ink and the Thanks a Bunch stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Carrots don’t only come in Orange and so this card celebrates that.

There are lots of Stampin’ Up! colours you can identify in this picture and many of them are in the Regal Colour collection.

I chose to use Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss and Real Red. The leaves in this card were stamped in Garden Green. A post it note was used to lay across the top of the carrots so that the leaves were different heights. Some Balmy Blue ink was also sponged around the carrots with a Blending Brush to give the effect of sky.

The soil section of this card was created by a torn piece of Basic White cardstock, which was then sponged in Soft Suede with a blending brush. Some detail was also added with the splatter stamp from the stamp set. It was then stuck over the bottom of the carrots to give them the impression of popping out of the ground.

The sentiment was stamped directly onto the Basic White card in Real Red ink, before adding it to a Real Red mat of card. Some Basic Twine was wrapped around and tied in a bow before adding to a Pumpkin Pie card base.

The pearls on this card were Basic Pearls which had been coloured with a Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend before being added to look like stones in the soil.

I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do leave a comment if you can, because it certainly makes my day. Then it is time to hop around all the other projects
